The tradition of excellence in the Owosso band program is something we teach right from the beginning.
Starting in 5th grade, students can become a part of this wonderful tradition. Elementary band meets twice a week during the school day. These students get to perform one indoor concert in the evening, usually in the spring and one parade during the school day, usually in May.
Being a part of the band not only gives students the opportunity to become musicians but also teaches them invaluable lifelong skills. Band students learn the value of teamwork, focus and determination. These students thrive in a safe environment where taking a risk is encouraged and perseverance is everywhere. Band students get to experience the success that comes from hard work, discipline and accountability.
Through music, band students are get to explore other cultures helping them become balanced, well rounded individuals.
They experience successful communication and how to work together to reach a common goal.
After high school, many opportunities await a musician. Even if students do not choose to pursue a career in music education, they have the skills to
continue to practice their art. Many of our students go on to join bands beyond the high school level. Michigan State University, University of Michigan and Central Michigan University are just a few of the schools who have previous TMB members in their ensemble.
These students not only enjoy a lifelong hobby but also have an incredible opportunity to network with other great people.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to be a part of something great!
